US Indian Wars Era, Army Enlisted M1872 Forage Cap, Infantry

Original era manufacture. A fairly sound example of a classic piece of US Army headgear of the Indian Wars era. Dark blue wool bodied hat with an unbound visor. Brown polished cotton lining with a rather tattered leather sweatband. Loosely attached to the front of the hat is an 1872 pattern enlisted infantry insignia, and above, a German silver number 4. There is a standard enlisted general service button on each side, with a section of the original patent leather chinstrap remaining. The hat shows age and wear, yet displays well, needing just a little TLC.
