Description

Original period manufacture. A complete example of the 1796 pattern enlisted light cavalry sword. Unit marked on the scabbard throat, Y H 33 B (Yorkshire Hussars). The blade measures 33 inches in length, fairly straight and true, with a consistent 1.5 inch width along its length. The surface has a pleasing steel patina finish, with a few scattered nicks along the cutting edge, nothing dreadful. Rough surface, black painted, steel patina finish to the guard and wood bodied grip, with a small section of the wooden grip missing below the pommel. Black painted steel patina finish to the steel scabbard, both suspension rings are present, the surface showing typical scattered shallow denting, overall very sound. Unusual to find an example with period regimental markings.
