US Civil War, Federal Issue, M1858 Knapsack

Original era manufacture. Tarred linen body, with leather straps and brass fittings with steel connecting buckles. It represents the standard issue Federal Infantry knapsack of the Civil War. The knapsack displays typical tears and small holesin the painted fabric, however the leathershoulderstraps are full length, and at present unbroken. Several attaching hooks and buckles are missing,and the tips of the small thin straps havepulled away.Stuffed with bubble-wrap, or some other lightweight material, the pack should display quite well.
