Japanese WWII Grand Cordon Box, Order of the Rising Sun

Original era manufacture. This lacquered wood box was a recent purchase of ours from the family of an American officer who served on MacArthur's staff stationed in Tokyo after the end of WWII. It measures roughly 9x4.5x1.75 inches with a lightly scuffed top and minor nicks and dings to its surface. The closing clasp is intact, maroon silk lid pad but the interior pad is missing. This of course is the case for the highest level of the Order of the Rising Sun.
