US Civil War Ohio Participants Medal & 2 Discharges, 31st Ohio Infantry

Original period manufacture. A nice grouping to a soldier who served the state of Ohio in the Civil War, 1861-1865. Henry Miller enlisted company G of the 31st Ohio Infantry on the 20th of August 1861, serving with the regiment through the entire war, being discharged 20 July 1865 at Louisville Kentucky.The grouping includes the following; his named Ohio Veterans Medal, an official discharge for his first enlistment 1861-1863, and a second official discharge for his second enlistment January 1864-July 1865. The medal has his name, company and regiment information engraved on the reverse, missing it's ribbon, the suspension pin was removed and period replaced cotter pin type attachment. Also included is his October 1865 marriage license to Anna Asbin, his brother Peter's army discharge, same company & regiment 1864-65, and a selection of documents relating to Peter's service and passing. During the Civil War the 31st Ohio suffered the loss of 79 killed and 154 dying of disease. Under fire at Perryville, actively engaged at Stone's River, Hoover's Gap, Chickamauga, Brown's Ferry, Missionary Ridge, Resaca, Sherman's March to the Sea.
