Argentine Engineer Bayonet, German Mfg

Sold
$195.00

Description

Original period manufacture. German manufactured brass handled bayonet by what I believe to be Kirschbaum. Modified from it's 1879 Rolling Block rifle configuration around 1891 to fit the newly adopted Engineer's Carbine.Polished steel blade measuring 9.75 inches in length, hooked guard with the muzzle ring removed, with a horseshoe shaped opening instead. This modification allows the bayonet to be affixed to the carbine.  Very sound original steel scabbard, very lightly dented, with a pleasing steel patina finish. Both the bayonet and scabbard are serial numbered but do not match.
