French Mle 1822 Cavalry Sabre, Chatellerault Arsenal 1877

Original period manufacture. Classic, curved blade French cavalry sabre which served as an inspiration to many countries (including the USA M1840 Wristbreaker) which adopted similar models.Polished steel blade measuring 36 inches and runs straight and true through its length. Steel patina finish overall at this point in its life, with a wide, flat spine displaying its original manufacture markings and dates.Dark brass patina, three branch guard and pommel, with a leather wrapped grip bound with twisted brass wire. Single suspension ring scabbard (our 1840 model used two) with a dark steel patina finish and no denting to its surface.Handsome old sword with no apologies neccessary, just normal age and wear.
