Original era manufacture. A beautiful example of a presentation grade M1860 Staff Officers sword, with a Boston retailers name on the ricasso.The diamond shaped blade measures 29.5 inches in length, running straight and true; gold etched panels on each side of the blade depicting a variety of Civil War soldiers and floral motifs.Fire gilded, elaborate folding guard, and pommel with a silver grip separated by bands of beaded gilt brass. On the underside of the guard, engraved in an attractive floral script is the name, Issac A. Sylvester.Chromed steel bodied scabbard with no issues, decorated with an elaborate drag and suspension loop sections. Overall an extremely attractive sword in very sound condition.
