Description

Original era manufacture. A very clean example of a German made M1840 sword imported for use during the American Civil War. Made by the firm of PDL (Peter D. Luneschloss), displaying those initials within an oval, stamped into the ricasso.The blade measures 35.5 inches in length, with the very clean polished steel blade running straight and true, no corrosion issues.The leather wrapped grip is intact, being bound with a single strand of twisted brass wire. Pleasing brass patina to the three branch guard and pommel cap. Light wear to the surface of the grip, no flaking or missing pieces.Clean steel scabbard with a mellow steel patina finish, displaying scattered, very minor denting to the surface. Again, no real corrosion issues.
