Description
German WWII 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class-This is an interesting example, since it is made by a less common maker. The iron core has 99% of its original black finish. The silver frame shows some dark toning, on both the obverse and the reverse. The ring of this cross is marked with '19' for E. Ferdinand Weidmann which is the uncommon maker. This also comes with a good portion of ribbon which is super clean and has vibrant colors. Overall, this is very good. $220History: The German Iron Cross of 1939, awarded during World War II, was a reintroduction of the historic Prussian Iron Cross by Adolf Hitler at the start of the conflict, featuring a swastika in the center and a ribbon incorporating the colors of the TR regime (black, white, and red) instead of the traditional Prussian black and white stripes. This medal was essentially a way to continue the tradition of military valor recognition while aligning it with the new ideology.
