RARE Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger 'Tornister' back pack in blue canvas by fvz 1941

Original and extremely rare paratrooper back back. Only a few know in collections untill today. This particular example was recently discovered in a farm in Bavaria (Germany). What the official designation of the 'Fallschirmjäger backpack' was (if it even had one) has not yet been determined. No evidence has surfaced suggesting that this piece of equipment was used by any unit other than airborne troops. Much suggests that the backpack was primarily used by the experimental-minded LL-Sturm-Regiment, rather than being a widely distributed item. All known examples of this backpack bear the manufacturer code 'fvz' and the abbreviated year '41' and were produced by the leather goods factory Paul Klopfer in Berlin. Also common is the use of captured materials, such as French and Belgian backpack straps. The back is fairly complete with all straps and hooks, some leather feels a bit stiff. Two of the six extra closing strips are gone. For what exact purpose it was intended and, above all, what all the numerous compartments were for, could not yet be clarified – although there is no lack of speculation about it (at the top, for example, a compartment for inserting short Karabiner clips).A very rare piece of Fallschirmjäger equipment for the advanced collector!
