Description
Genuine Alte Kämpfer chevron for SS. Unissued example with SS tag still present. Very rare! The Old Fighters' Honor Chevrons were honorary decorations of the Nazi Party and were established by Adolf Hitler in February 1934 for members of the so-called 'Nazi combat organizations' (SS, SA, etc.)The SS Honor Chevron, also traditionally derived from the SA Honor Chevron, was introduced by Adolf Hitler on December 15, 1934. In contrast to the awarding regulations within the SA, the Schutzstaffel originally restricted a recipient of this honor chevron to an SS number up to 50,000. Alternatively, for higher SS numbers, an NSDAP membership number of up to 300,000 was required, meaning that the SS member had to have joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party before January 30, 1933. The SS honorary chevron consisted of an interwoven silver braid with two approximately 1 cm wide black dividing stripes. Initially, the chevron was placed on a black fabric background and, from around 1939, was replaced by an approximately 1 cm wide black vertical stripe. The honorary chevron was worn on all SS uniforms. This also applied to members of the Waffen-SS, who were entitled to wear the SS honorary chevron on their Waffen-SS uniforms.
