Description
This German SS letter is in used condition and was hand-signed by the Höhere SS- und Polizeiführer Nordwest Hanns Albin Rauter. The letter was sent to the commander of the Ornungspolizei in Nijmegen on June 26, 1944 and contains information about the Landwacht Nederland traffic controls.Inscription:Subject: Landwacht Traffic Control ServiceI have been traveling a lot in recent days and have not seen anything of the Landwacht Traffic Control Service anywhere. I have also not met or spoken to anyone who has seen the traffic control service in operation. Only in Wassenaar is a little tree occasionally put up. The day before yesterday I voiced my opinion to NSKK Oberführer Hegendörfer, and today to the inspector of the Motor-WA Eman. E. claims that he only received 180 pistols and has only been able to train 80 men in Schalkhaar because Oberleutnant Lautenschläger could not take over the training of the other men, stating that other Landwacht courses are ongoing and he is not in a position to properly conduct training for the traffic control service.E. complained that he had approached the Landwacht hundreds of times and several times Oberleutnant Lautenschläger requesting the allocation of armbands and identification cards. Reportedly, the Dutch orderly police only received a corresponding order today.I request an investigation into why the traffic control service is progressing so sluggishly and hesitantly.'signed'SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Polizei.A very interesting letter for the Dutch collaboration collection!Article number: 14349
