German WWII Heer 1941 Pattern Canvas Tropical Pith Helmet

Sold
$550.00

Description

Original era manufacture. First pattern tropical helmet introduced in 1941 of tan canvas covered cork construction. The helmet is complete with its proper leather sweatband and red cotton covered interior. The helmet shields, while original, are replacements as the prongs penetrate the lining, a fairly common occurrence with these old helmets. The leather edge binding is sound, displaying very minor scuffing to the edges but no surface loss. The original adjustable chinstrap is intact. The crown and visor are not crushed or broken, with a small soft spot in the crown over the tricolor emblem. Overall the helmet displays quite well.Very clean and presentable example of a pattern of helmet which did see service in North Africa during WWII.
