US Indian Wars Era Frazier Pattern Mounted Cartridge Box

Original era manufacture. Frazier had several patents for his boxes, the standard belt loop model, this type and a third with a sliding cover. It is also noted in a respected online source, that instead of a wood block insert, these were originally designed to accept a paper packet of twenty rounds. Online photographic evidence of these mounted pouches is minimal, in fact the only example I did find online shows a similar pouch which has a mode of suspension as ours does, but was modified from a standard belt loop pattern with the strap and buckle added post-production. Our example shows no evidence of belt loops ever being mounted to the reverse, instead, the ends of the strap attachments pass through slits in the leather body and are sewn and riveted in place. The online modified model I mentioned has a rectangular securing buckle which matches the buckle on our example. The interior has a solid wooden block with two 18 mm openings drilled into the body. Overall the pouch and belt are sound, the body leather is soft and pliable, the hinges work as they should, missing the lead-filled brass NG plate.
