Description

Original era manufacture. Lineman pattern entrenching shovel, so named after the Austrian officer who invented it. This style of short spade was adopted by a number of European armies prior to WWI. Black painted steel blade, collar and bracing supports with a natural wood finish handle. Brown leather carrier with two belt loops and lower support strap wrapped around the handle. I have not removed the strap to check the blade for markings, there are no visible markings on the leather. Sound, original condition. Measures 23 inches from the top of the belt loops to the bottom of the handle.
