US, late 19th Century, Militia Sword & Scabbard

Original era manufacture. Double edged, polished steel blade measuring 28 inches in length. The blade is clean, no issues, other than normal age and wear. Cast brass T-shaped guard, with an eagle decorated pommel cap. Black leather wrapped grip, bound with twisted brass wire.Black leather covered rigid body scabbard, with a brass throat and chape. A pattern of sword used by militia units, schools and perhaps fraternal organizations in the late 19th century.
