WH (Heer) M40 SD Combat Helmet

Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, field-grey paint. The paint shows normal wear and scratches caused by usage, see photos. A standard Heeres decal is applied to the left side of the helmet, the decal is retained for about 95%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact. The liner is complete with its original liner cord. The shell is marked with maker and size 'SE64' which indicates production by the 'Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G.' from Lauter. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '515'. The helmet is complete with an original chinstrap, the chinstrap is in mint condition and doesn't realy match to the used condition of the liner so it has most likely been replaced by a collector but is an original late war 1944 dated chinstrap. A Russian name has been written on the liner, this might indicate that the helmet was taken souvernir by a Russian soldier or worn by a Russian spoken volunteer in the Wehrmacht, interesting detail for sure. Nice and honest original M40 combat helmet in good condition!
