Description

Original era manufacture. German pattern stamped brass enlisted buckle, battlefield recovered in areas of the Brusilov offensive of 1916, where over 200000 Hapsburg soldiers were taken prisoner. Dark brass patina with light denting to the surface.The buckle is complete, save for the steel pin which held the attaching prongs in place. After being in the earth for 100 years it has corroded away, being replaced by the digger with a thin aluminum rod for display purposes.
