Description
Original era manufacture. A very fine quality sword typical of Southeast Asia, particularly the region once known as Burma. The blade measures 30 inches in length of a heft and design certainly capable of being used as a weapon. On each side of the blade are silver inlaid panels, with human images and what I believe to be stories of the Buddha. The two handed grip, ends in what others have called a Lotus bud, with intricate decoration over the entire surface. Possibly silver, or simply plated brass, however I cannot see any evidence of brass peeking through.Matching scabbard line with wood, with the surfaces exhibiting the same high degree of decoration as the grip.Very sound overall, the blade is not loose in the grip, and it fits the scabbard properly.
