Khedive Exquisit Cigarette Tin

Original 1930s or early 1940s German Khedive Exquisit Egyptian cigarette tin. The company was based out of Dresden. The tin is in OK condition with some issues - there is noticeable wear on the front. It measures about 5 1/4' by 4 1/2'.Egyptian cigarettes became very fashionable as a luxury cigarette in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They were in such high demand that many counterfeit companies appeared, offering cheaper and lower quality tobacco and using brand names and packaging meant to evoked Egyptian themes (the most notable being Camel). Egyptian tobacco popularity declined a bit after WWI, but the industry continued until it was nationalized by the Egyptian government in 1952.
