Bergmann & Co. DRGM Bakelite Soap/Perfume Container

Original pre-war Bergmann & Co. (Radebeul-Dresden) D.R.G.M. marked Bakelite container. The company was founded in the 1880s and was known for making soaps and perfumes. They continued making soaps during both world wars (although in inferior quality). Fats were regulated by the Reich Office for Industrial Fat Supply (RIF) and the general population referred to the acronym (and the low quality soap produced) as'ReinlichkeitistFrevel' ('Cleaning is pointless'). The company did not exist after the war. It is in very good condition. It measures a little over 2 3/4' across at the center and around 1 3/4' tall.
