German Mesh Shopping Bags

Sold
$8.50

Description

WWII era mesh shopping bags. These would have been in virtually every household and used for grocery shopping. Its nice because it can ball up to fit in a pocket and opens up to hold a lot of stuff - just make sure it can't fall out! These appear in several different catalogs - dated from 1931 (price is in Pf - pfennings) to Christmas of 1939 (both the later catalogs have prices in RM - Reichsmarks). The price is for one randomly selected bag. It may have a leather handle or a woven handle and the colors vary. Most could do with a light washing. Good German home front item. Size is difficult to measure, but they would hold maybe 3 heads of lettuce.
