French Franco-Prussian War, M1866 Chassepot Bayonet & Scabbard, 1866 Date

Original era manufacture. Classic sword bayonet with a yataghan shaped blade, introduced for use with the breechloading Chassepot rifle in 1866.Brass grip with a steel guard and a clean 23 inch polished steel blade. Relatively dent-free scabbard with a steel patina finish. A common enough bayonet, but certainly a classic, the last of the French sword bayonets, one of my favorite bayonets.  Normal age and wear.
