European 19th Century Cuirassier Brass & Steel, Back Plate

Original era manufacture. A heavy gauge steel backplate facedwith brass trim. Thereare anassortment of issue numbers stamped into the steel, including a large 26 on the left shoulder, and several smaller markings at the base of the collar.This is not a decorator piece, rather a service gradecuirass, the last vestige of knightly armor, still worn by combat troops in the early months of WWI.Great old patina finish, minimal surface corrosion, no pitting or other damage to mention.
