USUS WWII USAAF Officers Service Coat & Trousers, 9th Air Force

Original period manufacture. This is a named coat A.H. STARKE 0650471, displaying the rank of Major on the shoulder straps, 9-place ribbon bar, sterling marked, pinback pilot wings, British mfg 9th AF SSI on the right shoulder, wool felt USAAF SSI on the right. The coat is a size 40R, the matching material trousers are not named, with a 32 inch waistband and 28 inch inseam. Both pieces are very clean, exhibiting normal wear and use, with no moth issues that I could observe. Ancestry could not come up with a match to this name, so further research needs to be done. The ribbons include a Silver Star, DFC, Air Medal, Purple Heart all correct for an aviation officer, three overseas stripes on the left cuff and a Presidential Unit Citation over the right upper pocket. Sold as a tribute set, making a nice display piece or living history use if it is your size.
