The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a German fighter aircraft. It first saw action during the Spanish Civil War in 1937, and saw service with the German Luftwaffe and its allies throughout World War II. When it first saw service, it was one of the most advanced aircraft in the world. It remained in service until the end of the war.
