The recipient Dharam Chand was an Indian soldier of Dogra Rajput ethnicity and of the Hindu faith, who held the non-commissioned-officer rank of 'Naik' (Corporal) while serving with the 3rd Battalion 14th Punjab Regiment an infantry unit of the British Indian Army1939-1945: During the Second World War, 3/14 Punjab served in: India, Egypt, Aden Colony, Italian East Africa and Burma. Between 1942-46, the battalion was part of 9th Indian Infantry Brigade, and served under higher formation 5th Indian Division, a.k.a. 'Ball of Fire', between 1942-46Condition: VF
