Sold
£975.00

Description

An RAF '41 pattern Mae West Life Preserver in very good condition.Very hard to find now this jacket has all of its buttons to front with webbing loop handles to aid pulling out of the water & leg ties for better securement. Interestingly it is labelled a ' Flap ' type although does not appear to have ever had one. Mislabelling was common in wartime , as explained in Mick Prodgers excellent reference work ' LUFTWAFFE Vs RAF , Flying Clothing of The Air War 1939-45 '.Label intact with AM above crown . Label also bears the crown above AM , which precedes the broad arrow used from 1944 .
