WW2 German M38 Panzer Officers Cap

A well worn & 'been there' Panzer officers M38 side cap in black wool with silver wire officers piping & pink soutache to front .This well worn cap is typical of those worn by panzer officers on a daily basis whilst fighting within the confines of their tank. Not an other ranks upgrade this is privately purchased by the officer in fine wool with a black satin lining & partial leather sweatband to forehead area. Insignia to front consists of a silver wired eagle & bullion cockade with pink soutache denoting panzer troops. When one examines all of these I can see no evidence of previous placed insignia & in my opinion is all original wartime applied. Interior of cap has segmented air vent grommets with black satin lining & forehead area having well used leather sweatband. Commensurate fraying to edges of cap through wear & fraying to silver rank piping often caused by headphones being worn over the top constantly on & off.
