Description

Original era manufacture. Standard model 1860 Staff Officers sword, with a folding guard and Horstmann retailer name on the ricasso. The polished steel blade measures 30 inches in length, with someshallow nicks in the edge, etched military designs on both sides of the blade. The blade is fairly straight, with some scattered staining but nothing severe. Needs a light cleaning, and the nicks dressed out.Nicely detailed brass guard and pommel, with a fish skin grip bound with double strandbrass wire. The guard folds down on one side and bears this description;Presented To Lieutenant A. C. Rockhill, by the members of Company C First Regiment Infantry National Guard of Pennsylvania, April 26, 1882.Dent free steel scabbard with a dark steel patina, and a few areas of surface corrosion. The brass chape and suspension fittings are in good condition, the scabbard throat guide is missing. Good research project.
