In a very good condition a Model 1905 cut down bayonet (AFH)This specific cut down model got a spear tip instead of the chisel tip.It still has the original M1905 grip plates. On one side the wooden handle has split and lost a piece of wood. But still a perfect example of a 115 years old bayonet.The bayonet is marked AFH on the tang which stands for the American Fork and Hoe company. It is dated on the ricasso 1910 with the flaming bomb and marked S.A. which stands for the Springfield Armory and Rock Island Arsenal company.It has the M7 green scabbard with the Flaming grenade which stands for the US Ordnance DepartmentIn early 1943 after testing the US army decided to shorten the M1905 bayonet to 10in (25 cm) after this the production started for the M1 bayonet, As many as the M1905 bayonets were recalled for a cut down.
