Cabinet Photo of Officer of the Gateshead Mob / 5th Volunteer Battalion Durham Light Infantry (DLI)

Sold
£20.00

Description

An original Edwardian portrait mounted on card no doubt removed from a glass frame. Shows an officer in mess dress with LI pattern metal facing collar badges and a miniature mess dress Volunteer Efficiency Medal. Appears to be a small single pip / rank star on his epaulette indicating his rank as 2nd Lieutenant, having risen through the ranks (as determined by his medal). Gateshead photographer, hence the assumption he is an officer of the 5th Volunteer Battalion, headquartered in Gateshead, County Durham. Image and mount in fabulous condition for age (light scratch to his right shoulder and slight blemish on photographer's details) plus minor impress marks to rear of card. Any positive identification of the man in question would be most welcome.Comm FB
