Sold
£120.00

Description

A dark toned brass die struck badge with two long original loops (bent upwards but functional) and not a slider (as found on copies). A scarce genuine example of this much copied badge. Note the upright 'budgie', the short sturdy claw on each owl as it clutches the shield, a proper looking sheep rather than a thin looking dog like creature seen on the copies. There is a version with a slider which is Leeds Tram drivers not a Pals badge. The badge is the Arms of the City of Leeds, embodying the golden fleece, symbolic of Leeds importance in the wood trade. Raised as part of Kitchener's Army.K&K Vol 1 No 1147 refers.Comm DaMc (589)
