A scarce ORIGINAL 1939 - 1946 period full size 'Emergency Service Local Security Force Medal'; bronze example, retaining it original orange - red woven silk ribbon and clasp for two extra years service; the obverse disp laying an embossed female figure of Ireland holding a sword with an Irish Wolfhound on a lease at her side and inscribed 'NE NA PRAINNE' (Emergency Period) with embossed Irish artist name to the rim 'Lawrence Campbell. R.H.A.'; the reverse a branch of laurel and dates 1939 and 1946 with the unit the recipient served 'Local Security Force (Na Caomnoira Aitiula). Good condition, nicely toned.Height approx 91mm.
