Royal College of Nursing Officially Numbered Badge

A scarce original pre-1953 'Royal College of Nursing unmarked silver plated badge', GVIR Crowned oval title surround 'Royal College of Nursing Founded MCMXVI' (1916), 'RCN' monogram to centre on blue enamel ground; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London' 'Reg.Appd For' and official issue number '44263'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel.Height approx 33mm.The College of Nursing was founded in 1916. The name was changed to the Royal College of Nursing in 1939. Since 1977 the RCN has also been registered as a trade union.
