A scarce original vintage period 'The Royal Society of Saint George membership badge'; small gilt brass Crowned title ribbon scroll surmounting St George's shield, all inlaid with patriotic red, white and blue enamel; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.GAUNT MONTREAL'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, enamel intact.Height 20mm.The Royal Society of St George was founded in 1894, with Queen Victoria as first Royal Patron, followed by the patronage of every reigning monarch upto Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
