WW1 British Red Cross & Order of St John overseas service numbered cap badge

A scarce original First World War period 'British Red Cross military uniform cap badge, worn by personnel serving overseas'; large gilt rectangular convex example, bearing very bold red cross on white enamel ground; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'ARMFIELDS BIRM' offical issue number '5687' and complete with original two loop fittings and split pin. Very good condition, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
