A scarce original circa 1920 -1929 period 'Daily Sketch Birthday Club membership celluloid tin button badge' blue and white example with gold title surround, the centre displaying a head of a facing head of 'Oojah the Elephant' with 'MEMBER' title above. Very good clean condition, complete with original pin fitting, no sign of any foxing, an excellent example.Diameter approx 25mm.Oojah the Elephant was created and drawn by the cartoonist illustrator 'Thomas Maybank' (1869-1929), he produced artwork for many publications, including 'Punch'.The Daily Sketch was a British national tabloid newspaper founded in Manchester in 1909 by Sir Edward Hulton. In 1971 it was closed and merged with the Daily Mail.
