A scarce original end of First World War '1919 City of Carlisle medal'; large heavy duty bronze example bearing the pre 1924 two coats of arms of Carlisle with motto 'BE JUST AND FEAR NOT' 'BERTRAM CARR MAYOR within title surround, the obverse an embossed allegorical figure of a Britannia greeting a wounded soldier with peace doves below, the edge engraved 'AGNES MELLOR LEITCH. Very good condition, retaining its original bloom.
