French Second Empire Shako Plate, 13th Regiment

Original period manufacture. Stampedbrass shako plate with a gilt finish and a cut-out regiment number below the eagle's claws. Attaching screwpost on the reverse, however the attaching nut is missing.Of a pattern introduced in 1854, and used in varying sizes until 1867 when a new pattern of shako was introducedwhich no longer utilized abrass front plate.Very fine detail with a good bit of the original gilded finish remaining, measures 90x115 mm.
