French WWI, M1916 Fighting Knife & Scabbard

Original era manufacture. A well made knife whose blade design served as a model for the US M1918 Trench Knife. Clean, 6.5 inch polished steel blade with a very interesting makers logo on the ricasso. Steel guard, with a simple, tapered wood grip. Darkened finish, sheetsteel scabbard with a wide belt loop. Shows typical age and wear, with evidence of perhaps an old white paint finish.
