Expertly fit stag grips have deep gulleys and beautiful tones. Pommel, backstrap and crossguard retain all their plating and show no signs of period misuse. Release button operates correctly and there is a red felt plug in the rifle slot. 'Service time' etch is crisply executed on a mint blade, and the Höller thermometer trademark is clearly visible on the obverse ricasso. Scabbard finish is perfect with no dents, chips or scratches. Brown leather frog is excellent with one very minor loss of stitching which could be simply repaired. Wrapped about the frog in the correct tie is a period regimental portepee in the best of condition, having the makers details and date to the inner surface of the strap.
