Third Reich : Wehrmacht ? Short-pattern Carbine-blade Dress Bayonet with Scabbard and Dutch Manufactured Orange/Tan Leather Frog.

Sold
£165.00

Description

Dress bayonet with 20cms carbine-type blade with double-edged tip. Unfortunately about 5mm of the tip is missing. There is some staining to the tip but in the main the finish on the blade is bright and clean. The original leather washer is in place. The ricasso is stamped with the manufacturer's logo of Jung Siegfried wielding a hammer above 'P.O.& Co ' for Pack Ohliger & Co. of Solingen. The plating to the pommel shows some wear but the black chequered grips are undamaged and secured by large screw-rivets. Working stud fixing. The black scabbard shows little sign of wear and is undamaged. It is fitted in its original Dutch manufactured light orange-tan leather frog which has a nice stamp on the reverse of 'J.de Valk Jr., Amsterdam'. These frogs were apparently used by the Police Gendarmerie and Landjäger. The frog has brass / copper rivets from which a washer only is missing from one. Despite the flaws described, a very acceptable example.
