US WWI Camouflage Steel Helmet Shell, 3rd Army

Original period manufacture. US made M1917 steel helmet with a wonderful original camouflage finish applied to it's exterior. Bold 3rd Army emblem in red-white-blue. No liner or strap, but the underside of the rim is nicely painted by the artist McKenzie, and apparently named to the soldier for whom the helmet was painted Daggett, or DAG. dated June 6th 1919, France.
