Original era  manufacture. A very sound, 152 year old medal, presented by the State of West Virginia, to her sons who served in the Union Army during the Civil War.West Virginia and Ohio were unique in presenting named medals to their veterans. This example is named on the edge to one Spyke Sigman, Co E, 8th Regt Inf Vols. Research shows that 18 year old Private Sigman died of Typhoid Fever in February 1862. The medal is complete with its original ribbon and mounting pin, with an old wire repair to the suspension lug.Excellent research project.
