US M1892 30-40 Krag Bayonet, Fighting Knife Conversion

Original period manufacture. Standard M1892 Krag bayonet, with an 1899 dated ricasso. The blade has been considerably modified, by shortening it into an 8.5 inch blade length, and further modified by having the surfaces on each side carefully ground down to the depth of the blood groove.The guard grip and pommel have not been modified, with the designation, B20, stamped into the left grip plate.The scabbard has not escaped attention in this process, being shortened, and sectioned to fit the length of the blade. First pattern hanger, which is simply a sheet metal hook on the typical Krag pivot.
