French WWI Gasmask Tin, Anti-Gas Gloves

Original era manufacture. Not quite sure if these two items go together, but they were together at the time of our purchase.Dark blue painted steel can which is flattened on one side, and curved on the other. It stands just under 8 inches in height with the lid attached, with two loops on either side for a carrying string. On the bottom of the can the name of the original owner can be seen.Inside, are two anti-gas mittens made of chemically treated linen, they have stiffened a bit from age, but remain pliable enough to the unrolled and opened.
