1914 Star trio & GVR 3rd type coinage head Regular Army LS&GC To-L-9852.PTE.J.GANNON.1/THE.QUEEN'S.R (1914)L-9852.PTE.J.GANNON.THE.QUEEN'S (Pair) & 6076290.SJT.J.GANNON.THE.QUEEN'S.R(LS&GC)John Gannon from Guildford enlisted in to the 1st battalion of the Queens regiment in 1911 & first landed in France 21-8-1914. He received a gunshot wound to the right forearm in September 1914 & was taken prisoner of war at the same time. He was issued a silver war badge 5-4-1919 but continued to serve with the regiment & was awarded his LS&GC in army order 188 of December 1932. He sadly died serving as a C-Sjt with the regiment 15-2-1944 and is buried in Guildford (Stoke) new cemetery. He was 50 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the CWGC as the late husband of Rose Lilly Gannon of Stoughton, Guildford.He is entitled to the August to November clasp for his 1914 star & this is confirmed on his MIC. It is however sadly missing from the ribbon of the medal.GVF/VF & Mounted as worn. Complete with MIC details, POW details, enlistment book details, CWGC details & silver war badge roll details.
