He enlisted in to the 2nd battalion of the Durham Light Infantry in Newcastle & first landed in France 29-6-1915 and was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 9-8-1915 age 23. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial at Ypres. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Frederick & Jane Thompson of 4 Garden Row, Crofton, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.NEF & Complete with MIC details.
