WW1 1914-15 Star & British War MedalTo- 3-10269.PTE.W.THOMPSON.DURH.L.IWilliam Thompson was born in Jersey & Lived in Crofton, Near Wakefield. He enlisted in to the 2nd battalion of the Durham Light Infantry in Newcastle & first landed in France 29-6-1915 and was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 9-8-1915 age 23. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial at Ypres. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Frederick & Jane Thompson of 4 Garden Row, Crofton, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.NEF & Complete with MIC details. Along with details from both SDGW & the CWGC.
